As North America’s largest full-truckload motor carrier, Swift Transportation has over 18,000 trucks and generates over $4 billion in revenue annually. With facilities expanding throughout the United States and Mexico, Swift needed a comprehensive digital solution for internal staff and their customers.
Since 2011, I-ology has worked closely with Swift Transportation on their technology goals and web initiatives. The new SwiftTrans.com is designed to enhance the customer experience and introduce new information, imagery and videos along with an in depth look at Swift's comprehensive suite of services and equipment offerings.

Research & Discovery
During the research and discovery phase, the I-ology team spent a series of days at the Swift corporate office interviewing various teams to understand the process and segments of the business. Along with taking a deep dive into the Swift infrastructure, we also reviewed and mapped the preexisting website and web assets to ensure all components were factored into the new site build.
Swift Transportation has over 22,000+ skilled drivers covering more than 2 billion miles driven per year, which translates to thousands of mobile devices and tablets accessing the website from all parts of the world. So a fully responsive platform was one of the main drivers for redevelopment.
Concept & Planning
The concept and planning phase allowed us to set expectations with the Swift team. We created wireframes, unique site attributes and templates to make sure the site structure properly aligned prior to the build. Once the Swift team approved the wireframes, we created full design mockups of site pages to demonstrate the user experience and look of the new site. I-ology redeveloped the new website to be fully responsive for a consistent viewing experience across all devices to give visitors the ability to easily access information on the go.
Create, Build, Test
The new Swift Transportation website was built using a responsive HTML5 framework and it runs on a customized build extending a .NET-based CMS. Collaborating with Swift, we created wireframes then UI design mockups that focused on achieving not only the goals of their internal departments but their customers as well. The new Swift website utilizes HTML5 video for employee testimonials and a Google Map API to locate their terminals around the country. The custom content management system gave Swift the ability to make updates and post new content on their own.
Deploy, Research, Market
When the new site was fully built and our testing was complete, we launched and sent out internal notifications to the Swift team. Once all was approved, there was a larger reaching customer notification that the new site was online.
The new experience is designed to help provide essential information and guide both new and existing customers to their destinations. Customers can now connect using the new 'get a quote' form and route their specific requests to the appropriate department.
The new website also features an interactive terminal map that displays the 40+ full service terminals located across the United States and Mexico along with a virtual tour of the corporate office located in Phoenix, Arizona.
Since launch, the I-ology team has consistently measured results and reported analytics on a monthly basis to Swift. Our team consistently works on tasks and updates requested by Swift as well as deep reports and insight about trending traffic patterns and site visitation.
