Sonora Quest Laboratories is an integrated laboratory system servicing over 7,000 clients throughout Arizona including hospitals, physicians, managed care organizations and employers.

I-ology has worked with Sonora Quest since 2010 and created their entire website including full CMS, physician portal, patient portal and recently built their new website in responsive design.

Research & Discovery

Working closely with Sonora Quest Labs sales support and marketing manager, the I-ology team immersed themselves into their business to fully understand both the client’s needs and the needs of their patients. This was a large, comprehensive project that needed to incorporate patient and client portals, a brand new website, CMS development, mobile optimization, bill pay and a single sign-in for patients.


Concept & Planning

After understanding the scope of work and overall goals of the client, our team came up with a strategy and comprehensive web solution that would incorporate a patient services center for appointment setting with a mobile optimized design. We built a single sign-in so patients could access account information, utilize an online bill pay with insurance integration and a third party payer system. We then created an advanced integration system that used TimeTrade and Google Map APIs. Everything from concept to plan was following strict HIPAA guidelines and compliant protocol. Every member of our team is HIPAA certified and works to ensure security and patient information regulations.


Create, Build, Test

The first step our team took was creating extensive wireframes followed by an interactive prototype. This was a lengthy process that ensured everything was taken into consideration during development. We then reviewed the wireframes and prototype with their internal teams and made revisions to help define the user process.

In conjunction with the design process, we created functional specifications that included our approach and integration with TimeTrade API then also selected the mobile SMS provider. Once all of this was approved, we began building out the project with UI and frontend development while also creating the backend development and integration with TimeTrade and Nexmo. We built this all on staging and had their team test and review prior to launch. Then, our final step was redesigning the email notifications and appropriate automation for the various appointments and actions within the system.


Deploy, Research, Market

After the launch of the project, Sonora Quest Labs saw an increase in absolute unique visitors by 53.84%. With the responsive mobile design, the overall traffic saw a large increase with over 3,350 additional unique visits per day. With the new user and mobile friendly enhanced experience, average page views increased by more than 40% and a very prominent keyword for this industry “blood lab” saw a 161.54% increase in search. By streamlining the operations and making a better user experience by integrating appointment scheduling and online bill paying, Sonora Quest Labs was thrilled with the results and has continued to see growth and returned visits to each aspect of the project.
